Corporate Manslaughter Update

There have still only been three convictions for corporate manslaughter since the introduction of the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act in 2008 but the number of pending cases has increased significantly.  A recent survey by law firm Pinsent Masons showed a 40% increase in the number of new cases opened by the CPS with 56 prosecutions currently open.

The Act was introduced after a number of high profile accidents for which manslaughter charges were unsuccessful.
