Employee Addresses

HMRC have announced that they will now update employee addresses based on information provided to them on RTI returns sent from payroll. They recognise that employees are more likely to let employers know when they change address than HMRC, however this could put you at risk with Data Protection Legislation and they advise that you should let employees know that this is happening. Our experience shows that most employees assume that this has always been the case so it should not cause a problem. If you don’t want us to report employee addresses on RTI returns please let us know and we can switch it off, then employees would be responsible for telling HMRC of changes in circumstances.
