National Minimum Wage

Employers paying their employees less than the National Minimum Wage can now be fined up to £20,000 per worker. The NMW is set to increase in October 2015, but be mindful of the budget announcement made by the Chancellor George Osborne, in which a new term ‘National Living Wage’ was announced. This is not set to take effect until April 2016, subject to debate in Parliament! Commentators have described the new term as a replacement for the NMW, but watch this space.
